ELK CAMP RESTAURANT

Client: The Aspen Skiing Company
Location: Snowmass Mountain, Colorado
General Contractor: Hyder Construction
Project Status: Completed 2012

Connect One Design provided landscape architecture services for the Elk Camp Restaurant, a LEED Silver destination on Snowmass Mountain, Colorado designed by CCY Architects.

When the existing on-mountain restaurant at this popular ski resort became dated, the Aspen Skiing Company decided to create a consolidated structure to house a new restaurant, the ski school, operations facilities, and a lift. Connect One was brought on board to better integrate the finished design into the natural surroundings of the White River National Forest. In addition to revegetation of disturbed area, Connect One devised a grading plan and planting scheme to reduce the scale of the building’s facades and screen the back of house and service areas, while still allowing free movement of skiers. The final planting plan incorporates native and adaptive plants carefully selected for the high elevation, extreme temperatures and shady aspect.
