GWYN’S HIGH ALPINE RESTAURANT

Client: Aspen Skiing Company
Location: Snowmass Mountain, Colorado
Project Status: Completed 2017

Located in the White River National Forest, Gwyn’s High Alpine has been a favorite restaurant at Snowmass Ski Resort since 1979. However, nearly 40 years later, the restaurant was in need of an update. The new owners, Aspen Skiing Company, handpicked Connect One Design for the team assembled to complete the extensive remodel. Connect One’s role was to mitigate and revegetate the surrounds of the restaurant impacted by construction activities, working collaboratively with the United States Forest Service (USFS) and the Town of Snowmass. The scope included taking an inventory of the native shrubs, trees, wildflowers and grasses found in similar growing conditions at the 10,500’ elevation site. Working with seed distributors and local growers, Connect One Design was able to meet the USFS’s strict conditions for revegetation of the disturbed steep shale soils, as well as provide visual mitigation of the restaurant building and auxiliary structures.
