Client: Aspen Housing Partnership
Location: Aspen, Colorado
General Contractor: Shaw Construction
Project Status: Approvals

After a competitive RFP process, the Aspen Affordable Housing Partnership was selected to design and develop three affordable housing projects in Aspen, including the Park Circle Affordable Housing Project. Connect One Design led a public outreach campaign to receive input and ensure a community supported space. The Park Circle Affordable Housing Project is located just below Smuggler Mountain on a prominent neighborhood corner. The steep grade over the site drops an entire floor in just 100 feet, and presents challenges that require innovative solutions. Connect One Design’s plans respond creatively and effectively to the elevation change, specific streetscape design criteria, parking lot constraints, and ADA egress issues. The landscape design compliments the architecture’s mining influences, and creates a seamless indoor-outdoor transition that allows each renter a private space. Each unit’s outdoor area provides creative storage solutions to enhance livability. Terraced planting areas cascade storm water through runnels, and cleverly placed vegetation provides privacy for residents.
