THE LOST FOREST

Client: Aspen Skiing Company
Location: Elk Camp on Snowmass Mountain, Colorado
Project Status: Completed Summer 2018

To draw a larger visitor base to Aspen Snowmass in the summer season, the Aspen Skiing Company decided to develop their summer programming at the Snowmass Ski Area. For this project, Connect One Design provided landscape architecture and planning services for the new Elk Camp Landscape and other mountain summer activities, including hiking and biking connectivity, a climbing wall, an alpine coaster, a zip line course, an amphitheater, and a summit viewing area. Our role also included oversight of venue designs, coordination and submission of drawings from all disciplines, and navigation of the United States Forest Service review process. In addition, we developed ORAR compliant paths, improved drainage solutions, and researched and further developed high elevation sod specifications to ensure the long-term success of this landscape. In a careful collaboration with CCY Architects, the SE Group, and the Aspen Skiing Company, Connect One Design was able to seamlessly integrate all program elements into the natural surroundings.
